Grab and Go Infant Blanket

Grab and Go Infant Blanket

Babies Machine Quilting Sewingby Comfortably.Nerdy

My best friend had a baby. I wanted to make her something but my sewing skills are beginner level. So I made a very basic play blanket, a grab and go infant blanket.

My friend and her husband are cancer researchers, so when I found this DNA/Molecule fabric I had to get it. They also decorated the baby’s room in a woodland creatures theme, so when I found fabric from that exact designer, I knew this was perfect.

I just layered the fabric together with cotton batting. No cutting or piecing. My quilting pattern was a straight grid lining up the nuclei of the science fabric. This was my first machine quilted project.

The finished blanket is small, about 52″ by 43″ which is just right for a baby. My intent was to make a basic grab and go blanket that could easily be packed up and laid out when at the park, waiting room, or office.

Finished Grab and Go Infant Blanket

Quick and easy to make, and every new mother will get a lot of use out of a grab and go infant blanket like this! it takes about 1-1/2 yard of two different fabrics, and then about 1/2 yard of another fabric to make the binding. And, a piece of cotton batting the size of your finished quilt.
