Hand quilting joins the quilt top, batting and backing layers. Both tiny stitches and big stitches are okay! By hand quilting, the quilt has a softer feel. It is the traditional method for making sure that the batting or filling to a quilt didn’t shift inside the top and the backing.
Some quilters enjoy a hand quilting project, saying that the repetitive stitching is meditative. There is a zen like quality to the rhythm of the stitching.
