TARDIS eReader Cover

TARDIS eReader Cover

Bags Embroidery Fathers Day Occasions Sewingby Chardel Blaine

Call The Doctor! What Dr. Who fan doesn’t want to carry reading material in Time and Relative Dimension in Space? The BBC series is a favorite in our family, so a TARDIS eReader cover was absolutely required! Hand embroidery on felted wool mimics the design of the timeless time traveling machine.

TARDIS ereader cover

To make a sleeve for your e-reader, cut a piece of fabric about 1 inch larger than the flat dimensions of your reader. If your reader measures 5″ x 7″, cut your fabric 6″ x 8″.  Cut a 2nd piece of fabric for lining. You’ll need two pieces of each fabric, your primary fabric and your lining fabric.

If you want to add embroidery or decorations to your e-reader cover, do it before you sew it together – it’s easier! Once it is all decorated, then it’s time to put together your TARDIS e-reader sleeve.

Sew the fabric for the outside together, with right sides together, along both sides and bottom. Then, sew the lining along both sides, with right sides together. Don’t sew the bottom – we’ll do that in a bit.

Turn the fabric you are using for the outside of your reader so that the right side is out. Match the raw edge of the lining fabric, with right sides together, with the top edge of the fabric you are using for the outside of the reader. Raw edges are together. Sew around the top of the cover.

Now you can take the lining, and you’ll see it easily goes into the outside cover, and you have a nice finished edge! I like to topstitch that edge, so the lining stays inside. To finish, just use your zig zag stitch to close the bottom of the lining – no one will see it!

Enjoy your TARDIS e-reader cover!
