Quilts of Valor – Honor Veterans with Quilts

Quilts of Valor – Honor Veterans with Quilts

DIY Home Décor Fourth of July Machine Quilting Occasions Quiltingby Kathy Manley

The Quilts of Valor Foundation is a wonderful organization dedicated to wrapping every veteran “touched by war” in a warm comforting quilt. What a wonderful way to honor Veterans with quilts!

This past 4th of July weekend was extra-special because my brother received a Quilt of Valor for his Vietnam service.

The quilt and all it represents deeply touched him.  Also, he loves sleeping under it!

Wrapped up with the quilt made for him

The hearts and hands of many people contributed to making this particular quilt possible. Thanks to the amazing women of Off Grain Stitchers, who pieced the individual blocks, Doctor Barb Fox, who put it all together and the Quilts of Valor Foundation, who then set up and performed a beautiful presentation with little prep time!

Quilts of Valor Foundation’s mission is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor. Anyone can suggest a veteran to honor. Do you want to honor a veteran you know with a quilt? If so, you can request a quilt on the Quilts of Valor website. If you are a quilter that wants to help, you can find stores and locations that have groups that get together to plan and make these very special quilts. So, check the website to find one in your area. What a special way to use your talents!
