Patriotic Yard

Patriotic Yard

Fourth of July Occasionsby Ginny

We were hosting a party for Independence Day and I decided our cul-de-sac needed to be decorated for the 4th of July.  Making our yard the patriotic yard, was super easy and fun! Painted stars in red, white and blue make it festive!

I took an old moving box and drew a star.  It was not perfect (or even close), but with a ruler I was able to get it a bit closer.  I cut out the star using a utility knife to create a template. I kept the rest of the box around it to shield the yard from overspray. (Create Whimsy Editor Note: This is brilliant! Keep the rest of the box intact so that you don’t accidentally just spray the paint everywhere!)

Star stencils on grass

Using red, white and blue spray paints, I went around and laid the box down, sprayed the center where I had cut out the star.  In less than an hour later, done! Now the entire cul-de-sac looks so festive! The lawn decorations will last until the next time you cut the lawn, so in the summer, about a week.

I like this idea for different times of the year and seasons.  Hmmm . . . what other holidays could my lawn be festive?
