Star Wars Baby Blanket
My friends were having a baby and are huge Star Wars fans. I found this glow in the dark Star Wars fabric and wanted to make something for the new baby – a Star Wars Baby Blanket!
I made two receiving/breast feeding blankets. One is just the cotton fabric and a heavier, more draping backing. The other is lined with flannel. I used snowflake and daisy fabrics for the binding to denote which one was for cooler weather and which was for warmer.
I also made two portable changing pads. These are lined with a foam batting for stiffness, durability, and comfort. The backing is a thicker upholstery fabric, almost like carpet. This was to prevent sliding.
The difficult part was the binding. I made sure as I stitched my strips together the words “Star Wars” lined up, which on a diagonal is no small feat.
Since the fabric’s pattern was already segmented I just hand quilted along the grey lines with glow in the dark thread.
Feeding blankets, one lined, one no lining
Changing pads. I’m so proud of how the words read on the back of the changing pad!
Happy Star Wars baby and parents with these fun Star Wars baby blanket and changing pads!
