A dear friend of mine requested I make her son a Batman mask. Because “he’s been trying to turn everything into a Batman mask.” He’s just shy of 3 years old.
First I went on-line to see if I could find a template for a Batman mask, an image I could modify or an actual mask template. I found a great template at Cutesy Crafts to use as my shape.
I still wanted to have different fabrics on each side and to use quilt batting to stiffen the mask and ears overall. So I used a black velvet on one side (in my mind the face side, but who knows with a toddler) and a shiny black fabric with a square grid pattern.
What I found most difficult about making a Batman mask for toddler was the eye holes. They were so small and having to cut perpendicular to where the stitch line would be in order to turn the fabric edges in was not fun. I ended up not pinning anything and just working it as I went along.

Batman mask is complete and ready to fight some crime!
