Fabric Sculptures

Category: Fabric Sculptures

Many artists prefer fabric as their medium for creating original fabric sculptures. There are traditional techniques, such as using an armature to support their sculpture. Or newer techniques like using a heavyweight fusible interfacing like TimTex or PelTex, a heavy felt, or utilizing newer products that use heat to mold textiles such as Wonderflex or Fossshape. And, of course, some fabric glue or fabric sculpting medium may be involved!

Other makers create their sculptural forms as soft sculpture, sewing and using seams to create their fine art.

Fabrics easily provide drape and texture to the sculpture, giving it more visual interest.

From abstract textile installations to real-life fibre art, be inspired by these artists and their work.
