Tulip Doodling Patchwork Quilt
I started this Tulip Doodling Patchwork Quilt in a class with Sherri Lynn Wood called Patchwork Doodling. We all sat silently, then doodled for a few minutes and started to sew quietly. My doodle was all curves and points and made me think of tulips.
The pictures will continue to unfold.
I was thinking about family in Holland, Michigan, where there is still snow on the ground. Every May they celebrate Tulip Time and the town is drenched in tulips everywhere! It is quite the splendor! Here in the Pacific Northwest we have daffodils and many other flowers and the tulips are on the brink. Spring is really almost here but months away in other parts!
I will work spontaneously but have to plan each piece as I go and add it to the larger one. I think I will probably work in panels across or up and down. I’m not sure how the color palette will shift and change as I add more panels, but I do know that I like the way the tulip shapes are appearing in the fabric doodling! I also like the blend of colors, with lights and darks, that are really making the tulips appear.
