I started with a rusty scooter that was retrieved from the back of a garage, the children who played with it long left home. It seemed to be ready for the trash – the wheels broken the body rusted. But there was something about its charm that called to me.
I started with this old scooter It would be fun with a bike, trike, wagon, anything that is no longer being used. I think a little rust and wear just gives it more character. Then I made a quick trip to the dollar store for some flowers and garland.

Find a wire cutter and a place to work. I made mine on my patio on a lovely weekend morning – just the way to start the day! Wrap the garland around the scooter, adjusting the wire to secure it.
Add flowers. I picked yellow, pink and orange. They look happy to me.
Play with the garland and flowers until you have the look you want. I had a bow made from metal that just seemed right for the handlebar. Wired ribbon would work as well.
My new yard art sitting by a pot of flowers with a little squirrel statuary.
Find a prefect spot to place your yard art and enjoy! I put it with a group of pots on the steps and added a squirrel to the mix.
With a found object. a few dollars, and less than thirty minutes you have a new feature for your garden. It makes me smile! I hope it will make you smile too – whimsy at it’s best! Make Your Own Yard Art!
