Dress up a plain nursery pot with extra fabric for a hostess gift or centerpiece – making a plain pot special!
Simply find a small plant that suits you – I chose this bright pink double begonia, but you could start with any plant. Next, find a scrap of fabric that either compliments or contrasts with your plant. This is a floral cotton remnant I had in my stash, and felt like it looked great with this plant — to dress it up!
Cut two squares large enough to pull around the pot. Place them wrong sides together and put the pot in the middle and draw up. Secure with a large rubber band. Then cover the rubber band with a complimentary ribbon. Be sure to cut the edges of the ribbon to form a V, to finish off the ribbon bow nicely.

I used this as a small hostess gift. But you could do this with a larger pot as a centerpiece, or decorate several pots to place in the center of your table. Focus your project on the seasons with the fabric and ribbons you choose. You can do this for Mother’s Day, Christmas, Hanukkah, the Fourth of July, Easter or another favorite holiday. Have fun and enjoy!
