Add some 4th of July decor to your garden with these easy to make firecrackers!
Simply take a fence post or 4×4 and cut it to 12 to 18 inch long lengths. I like them to be different heights, but you could also cut them the same height to use on either side of a door. I used a fence post because I like the rounded edges. If you don’t saw, your local big box home improvement store will usually make some simple cuts for you at no charge.
Draw a line around the post about 6 inches from the top to mark the blue portion. Paint the bottom portion white and the top blue. Once that is dry add red stripes to the bottom. You can apply painter’s tape to to create sharp lines, or freehand the stripes for a shabby chic look. Next add stars to the top with a glitter pen. To finish it off add glitter wire stars- simply find a garland at your hobby store, fold and cut into six pieces (or as many as you wish), staple to the middle of the top of your firecracker, fold up and fashion.

I put these firecrackers on my back steps with some potted plants. They would also be cute by the front door or as a center piece for a picnic.
