There’s nothing better than fresh herbs in my kitchen, but I want them to look pretty, too. I have repotted herbs into new pots, and made herb gardens in even bigger pots on my counter. But really wanted something easier. I like different herbs different times of the year, and not all of them make it long in my house! These DIY tin can flower pots are super easy to make, and I love the look on my black counter!
Spray paint the big cans from tomatoes with texturized spray paint you can find in your local hardware store to make this great finish. Then make some tags from kraft paper, and tie the labels with some great string.
Why I like these tin can pots so much:

- Recycle tin cans.
- The herb pots fit in them perfectly and aren’t as tall, so when I water them, the water can drain into the bottom of the can.
- No need for replanting, just slip the herb from the store in the can!
- When a plant dies (yes, I’m not very good at keeping all of my herbs alive), I can easily go purchase another pot and it looks good right away!
Time to buy more herbs and make a big pot of spaghetti so I can get some big cans! The finished diy tin can flower pots.
